Questions, answered

How our oils are made, how to cook and store them, and how ordering works.

How our oils are made

What does wood-pressed (kachi ghani) mean?+

Seeds are crushed slowly in a traditional wooden ghani. The slow press works at low temperature, so the oil keeps the natural aroma and colour of the seed.

Do you use heat or chemicals in cold-pressed oils?+

No. Our cold-pressed oils are pressed without added heat or chemical solvents, then naturally settled and filtered before bottling.

How are the refined oils different?+

Refined oils are processed to give a light, neutral taste and a clear appearance. They are lab-tested and suit everyday cooking where you don't want the oil's flavour to stand out.

Why can cold-pressed oil look cloudy?+

Natural seed particles and waxes may settle or make the oil look slightly hazy, especially in cool weather. This is normal for unrefined oil.

Usage tips

Which oil should I use for deep frying?+

Groundnut oil handles high-heat Indian cooking and frying well. Refined sunflower or corn oils are good neutral options too.

Which oil is best for tadka and pickles?+

Mustard and sesame oils bring strong, traditional flavour to tempering, pickles and regional dishes.

How should I store cooking oil?+

Keep the bottle tightly closed, away from sunlight and the stove. Use a clean, dry ladle and finish opened packs within a few months.

Can I reuse frying oil?+

Reuse only once or twice after straining, and discard oil that turns dark, thick or smells off.
